Is there an ice cream recall right now?
Yes — 6 open recalls, all of them Outshine Fruit Bars, in FDA's record as read on . FDA's reason, word for word: “Foreign object: products may contain glass pieces”. One flavour per record, 60 batch codes between them, and every record still says “Ongoing”.
Is the box in your freezer one of them?
You need three things off the bottom of the box, not one: the UPC, the batch code, and the best-before date. Of the 60 batch codes in this recall, 6 appear under more than one flavour, and LLA617603 is printed with two different best-before dates depending on which flavour it is on. So a batch code on its own does not tell you whether your box is recalled — and it does not tell you it is safe either. This is arithmetic on FDA's own text; the recall notice does not point it out.
| Flavour | UPC on the box | Batch code and best before, on the bottom |
|---|---|---|
| Strawberry, 6-count H-1264-2026 · Class II | 041548610047 |
|
| Watermelon, 6-count H-1265-2026 · Class II | 041548413624 |
|
| Grape, 6-count H-1266-2026 · Class II | 041548244044 |
|
| Tangerine, 6-count H-1267-2026 · Class II | 041548612041 |
|
| Black Cherry, 6-count H-1268-2026 · Class II | 041548000121 |

The 6 codes that are on two flavours
| Batch code | Which flavours, and the best before on each |
|---|---|
| LLA616903 | Strawberry, 6-count 30 SEP 2027 · Grape, 6-count 30 SEP 2027 |
| LLA617603 | Strawberry, 6-count 30 SEP 2027 · Watermelon, 6-count 30 JUN 2027 |
| LLA618503 | Watermelon, 6-count 31 JUL 2027 · Black Cherry, 6-count 31 JUL 2027 |
| LLA619003 | Watermelon, 6-count 31 JUL 2027 · Black Cherry, 6-count 31 JUL 2027 |
| LLA619703 | Grape, 6-count 31 OCT 2027 · Tangerine, 6-count 31 OCT 2027 |
| LLA620303 | Strawberry, 6-count 31 OCT 2027 · Grape, 6-count 31 OCT 2027 |
LLA617603 is the one to be careful with. The same code is printed with 30 SEP 2027 on Strawberry, 6-count and 30 JUN 2027 on Watermelon, 6-count. If the code matches but the date on your box does not, that is not a mismatch you can rule yourself out on — check the UPC, which is the one of the three that only belongs to one flavour.
FDA's press release says “nationwide”. FDA's own record names the states.
The recall notice says, word for word: “These lots were distributed to retailers nationwide.”
The enforcement record FDA files for each of these 6 lots says something narrower, and it is the same sentence on all 6:
“The adulterated product was distributed to the following States: AL, AR, AZ, CA,CO,CT, FL,GA, IA,ID, IL, KS, LA, MA,MD,MI, MN,MO, NC, ND, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, PA, PR, TN TX, UT, VA, VI, WA, and WI.”
Read this the right way round. If your state is on that list, the lot reached it. If your state is not on it, that is a reason to check the three codes above — it is not a clearance. Product moves after it is distributed: it is bought online, carried across a state line, and sent between stores in one chain. FDA's list is where the firm says it shipped, not where the boxes ended up.
If you already ate one
FDA's notice says, word for word: “No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.” and “Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider immediately.”
There is no window to count here, and this page is not going to invent one. The other two recall pages on this site work out a date — ten weeks for Listeria, six days for Salmonella — because CDC publishes a number for those. Glass is not a germ. It has no incubation period, so there is no day after which you are in the clear and no day by which you had to have acted. What decides it is whether you were hurt at the time or are hurting now, which is a question for a person who can look at you.
What that means for the box in the freezer: the passage of time does not settle it. These lots carry best-before dates running to 30 NOV 2027, so a box bought this summer is still a box next year, and the check above is worth doing whenever you find it.
What to do with it
- FDA's instruction, word for word: “Consumers who have purchased the affected product should dispose of it or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.”
- What that sentence does not say: it does not name any proof you have to produce. It says “return it to their place of purchase for a full refund” and stops there. Coverage of this recall has added “with proof of purchase”; that condition is not in the notice, and if a shop asks for a receipt you did not keep, the number below is who says what the terms actually are.
- The number in the notice: Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream consumer line, in the recall notice, 800-392-4885, “Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm EST”
If you sell it
FDA's notice contains no sentence addressed to you. It is written to consumers throughout, and this page will not manufacture a duty it cannot quote. What the record does give you is the part a shelf check needs, and it is above: the 6 UPCs, the 60 batch codes with their best-before dates, and the states the lots went to.
- Whether you have to tell customers who already bought it — the notice does not say. The consumer line above is who to ask, and asking is cheaper than guessing.
- Watch the shared codes. Pulling by batch code alone takes stock off the shelf that is not recalled, and leaves on the shelf a flavour that is: 6 of these codes sit under two flavours. Pull by UPC and code together.
- When it is over: when openFDA's
statusstops saying “Ongoing”. This query returns the firm's open records and nothing else — it is the one this page is built from, and this page re-reads it before every deploy.

Statuses, product descriptions, batch codes and distribution read from openFDA — Food Enforcement Reports on 2026-10-30. Every quoted line above is FDA's wording; the batch tables are FDA's codeInfo split into pairs by this page, and the count of codes shared between flavours is this page's arithmetic on it. This page reports these recalls; it does not issue one.

This is not medical advice and this is not an official government site. Every code, UPC, state list and instruction on this page is quoted from the FDA records named above with the day they were read; where this page has worked something out from them — which batch codes sit under two flavours — it says so at that point. If someone has been hurt, their own doctor is who to call, not this page and not the shop. For the box itself, the notice says to throw it out or take it back where it was bought.
The other checks on this site were computed on the same day as this one, from FDA’s own records: Is there an egg recall right now?, Is there a cheese recall right now?, and Is my medical device recalled? — which reads a different FDA endpoint, and where the instruction is never just “stop using it”.
